was born at Colombo as the youngest in a family of 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Entered the film industry as a playback singer and song his first
published song for the film "Mathara Achchi", Directed by his brother
Sathischandra Edirisinghe, music directed by Victor Rathnayaka and
lyrics were by Wally Nanayakkara. |

Entered Visharada P.V. Nandasiri's Academy of Music. |

Went abroad to sit the 1st examination of Music in the Faculty of
Music of the University of Laknaw, India, in which he rewarded a 1st
class honour.
